Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief of Tarbiyatuna is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published. These decisions are based on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and its contribution to the field of Islamic education.

Editorial decisions may also be guided by the policies established by the journal’s editorial board and must comply with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Editors may consult with reviewers or members of the editorial board before making final publication decisions.

Fair Play

Editors must evaluate manuscripts based solely on their intellectual content, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious beliefs, ethnicity, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political perspectives.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must ensure that information regarding submitted manuscripts remains strictly confidential. Such information must not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher when appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used in the editor’s own research without the explicit written consent of the author.

Editors must also avoid situations in which conflicts of interest may influence editorial decisions.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness

Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or cannot complete the review within the required time should promptly notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss the manuscript with others without the editor’s permission.

Standards of Objectivity

Peer review must be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should provide clear, constructive, and evidence-based comments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant scholarly work that has not been cited by the authors. Any claim that an idea or finding has been previously reported must be supported by appropriate citations.

Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works known to them.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Information obtained during the peer-review process must remain confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.

Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest related to the authors, institutions, or organizations associated with the research.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research conducted, along with a clear discussion of its significance.

The manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to enable other researchers to replicate the study.

Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data where appropriate.

Authors should retain research data for a reasonable period after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original works. If the work or words of others are used, they must be properly cited.

Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

Publishing the same research in multiple journals without proper acknowledgment is considered unethical.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources that have influenced the research.

Relevant publications must be cited appropriately.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.

All contributors who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • All appropriate co-authors are included

  • No inappropriate authors are listed

  • All authors approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the results or interpretation of the research.

Sources of funding must also be clearly stated.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article, the author must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
